It’s hilarious to me that when this nut flew his plane into the IRS building, some of my friends on the left were eager to make a connection to Tea Party activists (even though the man in his own words accused Bush of being a puppet, hated capitalism, organized religion, etc.). But these nuts are given the silent treatment. Why? Because as much as they want to play down Al-Qaeda and its circle of friends, they know that unlike a “tea bagger”, if an associate of these terror organizations comes knocking on their door, it could be deadly. Just ask Roland Emmerich.

I just call them chickens.

You’re right in a way – anything today is used to make an argument to hurtle at opponents. but if you’re interested in the empowering access to statistics in arguing a case: I have put one of the most comprehensive link lists for hundreds of thousands of statistical sources and indicators (economics, demographics, health etc.) on my blog: Statistics Reference List. And what I find most fascinating is how data can be visualised nowadays with the graphical computing power of modern PCs, as in many of the dozens of examples in these Data Visualisation References.
