“Buy nothing Gringo” is a great slogan. Let’s see how this stupidity works out for them.

And in addition to the fact that the ‘new’ anthem is in Spanish…they (those people?) have changed the words to reflect how screwed our country is. Most of my Latino friends are as PO’d about both of these issues as I am.

Viva la Mexico! Why aren’t they protesting against Vincente Fox??

I’m not a patriotic or nationalistic person, but the national anthem in Spanish sounds like a very, very, bad idea even to me…However,I do wish that I had the movie rights to the song in question…

I think that any black person who needs a job should show up at the business’ that will be affected by the boycott with there birth certificate and social security card in hand and get a job. Maybe this will be a chance for us to get ahead.

Out here in LA?

I think it will begin when folks have to add an extra hour to get home or to work because of the protests. I’m avoiding the city at all cost over the next few days. It was crazy the last two times.

I’ll observe this one from an easy chair.

There has been no – or little – violence and looting during the last rallies.

Surely they must have learned SOMETHING from NBA championships and demonstrations against racism. It’s a lot more fun to go home with a new TV.

Meanwhile, any demonstration about Darfur will be overshadowed by this and will be covered on page 8 below the fold.

Let’s see which rally out heroes in the CBC attend.

I still sense this survivalist fear in our reactions to this situation. Man whether or not they are invited in or swim or whatever. BLACKS STILL HAVE THE SAME RESPOSIBILITY TO EDUCATE OURSELVES AND GET OFF OUR ASSES AND COMPETE. IM TIRED OF ALL THE WHINING ON THIS ISSUE AND IUNDERSTAND THE NEGATIVE CRIME IMPACT THIS COULD HAVE BUT I JUST DON’T SEE THIS AS A THREAT TO OUR SURVIVAL. GET GET OUT GET SOMETHIN’

And we talk so bad about another minority tha will move minorities into majority rule. It has already happened in Texas we represent over 50 percent of the popuolous here. We need mobilization of the minority vote and try to get our leaders into these high posts. Well you can say illegals can’t vote but I think this process is about legalization.

Our attention should be turned to Darfur where more of our people are dying from forced genocide and even over here where gangs are becoming inbred terrorists. At this point immigration is the least of our worries.

I say let them boycot and pay African Americans fair wages. Just as someone siad earlier.

Hypothetically speaking of course; let’s say that the government decides to pave a road to legalization for the 11+ million illegal “ALIENS” (immigrants are those who come to America legally). While both big and small businesses are benefiting from the cheap labor force, what is going to happen 20 yrs down the road when the children of this immigrant population grow up educated and don’t replace there parents in the produce fields, on construction sites, in hotels and restaurants as wait staff, and so on and so forth. You know… the jobs that we (Black Americans) will not take because it is too close to where we were during slavery, not to mention the poverty level pay and all.

What will we do for a workforce then? Will we again support illegal immigration so that businesses can continue to take advantage of low wage workers until we fill this country to the rim with low income households?

When do we say enough is enough? Don’t get me wrong, I admire the spirit in the immigrant community that believes in working hard and doing whatever it takes to support their family. Actually I envy their community because my community is doing the opposite. I wish we were the ones flexing our financial powers.

At any rate, we can sit here all day and say what we as black folks should do to improve our situations, but until we can get out into our communities and convince our people to open businesses, support other black businesses, and just flat out hustle without selling dope or relying on the government to take care of us, then nothing is going to change. See what I’m talking about? I just did it. But I’m a member of my city’s Black Chamber of Commerce that is actively planting that ideology into the black community.
