As for degrading black women, black rappers, comedians, actors been doing for years and no uprising from the black community… Heck, I dont think many folks in the black community even listen Imus or even know anything about NCAA women’s basketball.

I can see what you are saying, but the DJs are playing the music with the knowledge that it calls women hos.

I was also pointing out that the very company that employees Sharpton plays music that says the same thing. According to that logic, Sharpton should leave Radio One.

I should also mention that Imus deserves the 2 week suspension.

Eh, not really…I mean, that argument would hold CNN, Fox News, NBC, and everybody else accountable for replaying what Imus actually said. So IF we’re going to aim at “rap music,” which I’m not necessarily condoning, then you have to hold the actual artists and record executives accountable, not the DJs who play the finished product…

This is all aside from the fact that regardless of what “rappers” or anyone else says about black women (or anybody else), none of that makes what Imus did okay. I mean, can a Canadian radio personality now call me a “nappy-headed hoe” since Imus just did? See how warped that “logic” is?…

What I don’t hear is for him calling for DJs that play this filth to be fired. He really can’t do that because Radio One, whom he works, has several stations that play rap music. All I am saying is that if Imus should go so should the DJs that play music that say the same things that Imus said.

I understand what you’re saying though. It seems as though it’s the nature of some people to assume solidarity for the bad apples of their respective communities. The “Stop Snitching” movement is a perfect example.
