When was the last time Al Sharpton and/or Jesse took a black rapper to task for using the “N-word” to refer to other blacks or for using the “B-word” for describing black women. Big Al and Jesse Shakedown only come out to attack white folks when they make a derogatory comment, but look the other way at the Jay-Zs and Kanye Wests of the world who denigrate black folks every day.

In comparing the “Kramer” outburst to this, I’d call it the difference between manslaughter to murder two. Not premeditated, but awfully coldblooded execution nonetheless.

I understand what you’re saying though. It seems as though it’s the nature of some people to assume solidarity for the bad apples of their respective communities. The “Stop Snitching” movement is a perfect example.

I am not sure about Jackson, but I know that Sharpton has and does speak out against rap music.

What I don’t hear is for him calling for DJs that play this filth to be fired. He really can’t do that because Radio One, whom he works, has several stations that play rap music. All I am saying is that if Imus should go so should the DJs that play music that say the same things that Imus said.

Eh, not really…I mean, that argument would hold CNN, Fox News, NBC, and everybody else accountable for replaying what Imus actually said. So IF we’re going to aim at “rap music,” which I’m not necessarily condoning, then you have to hold the actual artists and record executives accountable, not the DJs who play the finished product…

This is all aside from the fact that regardless of what “rappers” or anyone else says about black women (or anybody else), none of that makes what Imus did okay. I mean, can a Canadian radio personality now call me a “nappy-headed hoe” since Imus just did? See how warped that “logic” is?…

I can see what you are saying, but the DJs are playing the music with the knowledge that it calls women hos.

I was also pointing out that the very company that employees Sharpton plays music that says the same thing. According to that logic, Sharpton should leave Radio One.

I should also mention that Imus deserves the 2 week suspension.

The Rutgers women’s basketball team, didn’t make a big deal out of Imus’s remarks, it was the black journalists, JJ an Al (who may be looking for handouts from the networks or face time)…Imus owes the Rutgers women’s basketball team an apology.

As for degrading black women, black rappers, comedians, actors been doing for years and no uprising from the black community… Heck, I dont think many folks in the black community even listen Imus or even know anything about NCAA women’s basketball.

Rev. Sharpton and Rev. Jackson are way off base with this one. What Mr.Imus said was horrible. But, what Young Jeezy, Young Dro, Young Joc, and the rest of the Young etc. is three times as horrible. Yea, I know, “the Rev. did request a 90-day ban on negative rap music.” But, requesting and protesting are two different things. He did one half-ass press conference on negative rap music. He’s done five in-depth ones on Imus. Plus, is it not ironic, that a man with a perm is upset about the reference of nappy hair? Why do people get perms (relaxers)? They do it to relax the minute curls or naps. Plus, according to researchers, like author Kathy Russell,many Blacks relax their hair because they find fault with its natural state and it prescribes to a more White characteristic. Women do it because they say that it makes their hair more manageable. That may be true. So, what’s Big Al’s excuse? Jesse’s not complaining about manageable hair and neither is Steve Harvey, Michael Baisden or millions of other Black males. Apparently, Bruh Sharpton’s not to happy with some of his Blackness. I’m a teacher pursuing my Doctorate and I have a full head of dreadlocks. I get looks at times and yes, I have been given the “he must be a thug” first impression. But, I’m happy nappy. Futhernore, women help degrade themselves. How many video vixens were forced “to shake what their mama’s gave them?” If they stop shaking, half of the problem will go away.
