It provides us with some insight on how European nations are once again sucking the life out of Africa–this time through its oil industry. Billions of dollars exchange hands in this industry while the most of the Continent sees very little of it. In the meantime, Liberals both here in the US and abroad accuse the US of not contributing enough resources to bring that Continent out of the depths of oppression. We need to stop with the silly music concerts and “special edition” music Cd’s that claim to help the oppressed in Africa and begin to put great pressure on the corrupt governments in that Continent that keep the spoils of the oil industry for themselves. (please check out the maps link above. This will give you a better idea on how much oil and gas is being extracted and taken away from Africa)

West African politicians sell rights for exploring offshore territory blocks by public tenders to prospect seekers like the European oil & gas multinationals. Once oil or gas is discovered in such blocks, they are entitled to exploit the ‘black’ gold and pay a governmental tax for each gallon of oil shipped away to Europe ! The bargain is so attractive to European prospect seeking multinationals, that in the last (10y) decade most part of the West African territory has been sold, explored and mapped. Offshore oil exploration and offshore oil exploitation is big business now in West Africa !
