Vice-Mayor of Miami Gardens: Oscar Braynon, II

Mr. Braynon started his efforts in public service early in life, serving as President of the North Miami Beach Senior High School Government; a member of the Miami-Dade County Student Advisory Board and the City of North Miami Beach Student Advisory Council.
He organized numerous community projects, including: Kick-Off for North Dade Team Metro Pride Week, 27th Avenue Cleanup Project and Christmas in April home restoration program in Bunche Park. His volunteerism includes: 100 Black Men Christmas Shopping Spree for disadvantaged youth, Habitat for Humanity, Boys and Girls Club of America, United Way, Special Olympics Summer Games and South Florida Food Recovery (Stop Hunger).
Mr. Braynon is a graduate of Florida State University. While in college, he interned with the Miami Heat NBA franchise. He has also served as a House Page in the Florida House of Representatives Messenger Program and served as the Executive Director of Arrive with Five Statewide Campaign. He most recently served as a Legislative Aide/Public Relations Coordinator to Miami-Dade County District 1 Commissioner Betty T. Ferguson.
At the age of 26 he was elected to the city-wide Council seat in July 2003, with 57% of the votes. He was appointed Vice-Mayor in July, 2005. (city website)
