GRAMBLING (shreveporttimes.com – 10-03-06) — A teacher walkout at Grambling High Laboratory School temporarily left some students with no class to attend this morning, Grambling State University officials confirmed.

The walkout was by teachers upset about not receiving pay raises when the faculty of Grambling State University received raises, Grambling State President Horace Judson said.

The university governs the high school, although much of its state funding goes through the Lincoln public school system. That extra step through the parish school system slightly delayed the teachers’ raises, Judson said, but they will receive the extra money this week.

That is why he was “a little bit surprised” a few teachers opted to not show up for work today, Judson said, reiterating that they all will receive their raises. (more…)
