This is no doubt in my mind that America is in the middle of a revolution. No matter who wins this coming election, it will not change the fact that America has entered into a new era. Going to the movies now will no longer be the same. In the years ahead of us, we can expect to see increased political ideologies in just about everything around us. America is faced with two choices: either continue to hold on to our traditional values that this country was founded on, or embrace the more liberal mindset (that is in many cases rooted in socialist ideologies) along with the rest of the world.

This struggle was quite evident during the past two party conventions. The protests during the Democratic convention were nowhere near the level of protests of the Republican convention. The main subject that brought many of these protesters together was their opposition to the war in Iraq. In the mind of many of these people, America will never have any justification to defend itself. This brings me to my next point. Another thing that these protest showed was America’s subtle love affair with socialism. Please note: I am no way concluding that anybody that is opposed to the war is a socialist. Instead what I know to be true is that there are many that are behind these protests that will always conclude that America is the “bad guy” simply because we are a super power. The fact that America is at war with people from “poor countries” plays right into the imagination of those who embrace socialist values.

In one of my recent postings, I talk about the umbrella organization that sponsored the protest rally in New York City, United for Peace and Justice, and its ties to the group Communist Party, USA. Well, the national coordinator for UPJ is Leslie Cagan. Here is a little background on her:

…the Times neglected to mention her long-standing ties to the Communist movement. In reality, Cagan is a longtime revolutionary activist. She has spent the past thirty years mobilizing what must be counted as millions of protesters at demonstrations and rallies around the world. They denounce American foreign and military policies—the litany of alleged crimes “against humanity.”

…Cagan has been an apologist for Fidel Castro. She was a member of the Venceremos Brigade, which has organized visits to Cuba for over thirty years. During her seven years as director of the Cuba Information Project, she led demonstrations demanding that the U.S. end its economic embargo against Castro. (full article)

There is nothing wrong with someone voicing their opinion about government policy. Protesting in this country is a right that is guaranteed to all citizens. But when we couple that right with an agenda that ultimately seeks to topple our government, we must take serious note.

[This posting is a part of my series on Socialism in America. In a later posting, I will discuss how many in the African-American community have adopted this ideology]
