Too many education remedies duck straight talk to parents about their responsibilities

“Parents are flat out wrong if they think that education is exclusively the responsibility of the school system. And, notwithstanding the potentially useful suggestions made in the columns described above, parents should not assume that new and improved “programs” will ensure a good academic outcome for their children.

Parents must guide, encourage, show interest and, yes, impose rules and discipline when it comes to helping their children achieve their potential. In addition, they need to pay close attention to what the schools are or are not demanding of their children. If your child never seems to have any homework, you should find out why.”

This whole issue is a two way street with that balance tiping more to parental responsibility. The school system as well has a responsibility on how it manages resourses and funds.
