This is an issue that I have been wanting to address for a long time, but for me it has been like when you first play double-dutch (jump-rope for those who are not familiar)–it is all about timing and accuracy.

As someone who has spent a good part of my life in the church, the list of issues that I would want to address are enough to have its own webpage (in fact I have considered this in the past). In fact, in many ways I have been holding back on this site in addressing the state of the church because as I said earlier, it is all about timing and accuracy.

I am not at all interested in flaming some preacher just because he has a nice car, however, if the community around the church building continues to remain impoverished while the actual ministry continues to amass wealth from the very backs of the people they claim to serve—I have a very serious problem with that.

Here is a piece that I just found this morning that addresses some of these issues. I must tell you up front that there are some things in this piece that I do not agree with 100%, and this piece is quite lengthy. Nevertheless, this piece will have you rethinking on how the church is perceived by society.

If you have any thoughts or opinions on the state of the church in black America, I would like to hear from you!

The True State of the Black Church

When we see the stupid stuff that that we allow the black preachers to get away with

There should be no question why our communities are STILL in a depraved state both physically and spiritually.

HERE IS THE REAL FRUIT OF THE BLACK CHURCH

For a reality check let’s examine how strong the backbone really is of our “Black Church” in our communities.

We have the highest rate among all of the other races for unwed teenage mothers. In fact it is the highest rate of any NATION on earth. Follow that with the obvious fact that we also have the highest rate of prison inmates than all other races between the ages of 18-36. Continue with the reality that we also produce the lowest ACT and SAT scores religiously. And you say our black church is the backbone of our community? You say the black church is the only thing black folks own? Then would you please show me the FRUIT of this wonderful gift?

We love to scoff and poke fun at the Muslim’s doctrine when at least a Louis Farrakhan can get some blacks off of the streets and dress them in suits and bowties. On the other hand the “black leaders” will lead most churchgoers to a building structure and take their money. What has our “black church” really done for the black community? In order to find a solution to this problem we must start placing the blame right where it belongs directly on the “supposed” religious leaders for deceiving us. We must also blame ourselves for being so stupid and undiscerning. When you look at the truth it really sounds like we’re a race of cursed people being deceived by our own kind.

Look at Paul Morton. Here is a self-anointed Bishop who gingerly raised his finger and admitted to being the pastor of a 501 (c) 3 church. In other words he has sold his church’s voice to the U.S. government just for some money. Self-proclaimed Bishop Paul Morton is one of many preachers who have taken the church and put it to bed with the world system. The world has always been the field. Here he can rake in the funds in the form of unscriptural tithes and coerced offerings and whatever he collects is considered as tax exempt donations (which is unscriptural). In order to stay within Uncle Sam’s graces and keep his tax-free money, he cannot speak above the conscience of the community. Nearly every church pastor is in bed with the government in exchange for the almighty dollar. If Satan himself ran for office, Mr. Morton could not directly advise the people who or who not to vote for. Are these really the types of people we should choose to lead us to the “Promised Land!”
