Website name: AutismConcepts.com
From the “About us” section:
This website is run by an African American family raising an adolescent child with autism. After seeking answers for several years our son MJ was finally diagnosed in 1998 at age 5½. We were devastated and anxious to get any information on autism. What could we expect to happen? How would we help our youngest child and only son? There weren’t many parent resources readily available at this time. We felt terribly alone and afraid. We needed to network with other parents to learn how to get through the day – and then there were the long, endless nights. We were soon blessed by an online support group, the St. John’s Autism List. There we were able to share our daily challenges and celebrate every joy!
Today the Internet has made it easy and convenient for parents to meet and share their experiences and important information. We wish to share credible, relevant information and resources of interest to families to empower, support, network and inform.
Most of the information, resources and practical strategies related within these webpages are gathered from our own personal use and experiences with our child.
