(news14.com) DURHAM, N.C. — Buses will roll from Durham to Jena, Louisiana this month for a civil rights rally.

They will join thousands of people in support of what’s known as the “Jena 6″. It’s the case of Mychal Bell, 17, four 18-year-olds and a juvenile awaiting trial on attempted murder and conspiracy charges for an attack on a white high school student in Jena. Bell faces up to 22 years in prison after being convicted of aggravated second-degree battery.

Tickets for the round-trip bus ride are $120 per person, and include a restaurant stop just outside Jena before the rally. Buses leave Wednesday, September 19th at 3 p.m. from Durham and N.C. Central. The supporters will be in Jena around 6 a.m. on September 20th and will return to Durham the same day after the end of the 9 a.m. court hearing for Mychal Bell. (more…)

I wonder if these passengers will make a stop in Atlanta to address the following:

(cbs46.com) The homicide rates in Atlanta are breaking records, up 42 percent from last year. Now a CBS 46 News investigation has made a startling discovery about the number of unsolved crimes in Atlanta.

“It affects everyone,” said District Attorney Paul Howard after reviewing results of the investigation.

CBS 46 Investigates reviewed police reports of 264 deaths in Atlanta since January 2005. Our investigation discovered that in 125 of those killings no arrests have been made. That means 47 percent, or almost half, of all homicides in Atlanta are unsolved.

“That’s scary. So 50 percent of the cases being unsolved means 50 percent of the people who have done it are still running around,” said Jarvis McClain. McClain is Shamika Riley’s brother, the mother of an infant child, who was discovered on a construction site at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport two weeks after she disappeared. “She was found naked, face down,” McClain said. I assure you that if Mayor Shirley Franklin of Atlanta was White, comparisons would be made all over the place to the Jim Crow south. The Jena case (a case worth the public outrage) involves injustice from Whites. So once again we prove that many of us hold much higher standards for Whites in authority than our own (Take a deep breath and think for a minute before you comment).
