(forbes.com) Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton will not participate in a Democratic debate co-hosted by Fox News Channel this fall, campaign aides indicated Monday.
The decision by the two Democratic presidential candidates follows an announcement last week by John Edwards, another White House contender, that he would forgo the Fox event.
The Sept. 23 debate, set for Detroit, is co-sponsored by the cable news network and by the Congressional Black Caucus Political Education and Leadership Institute.
Without Obama, Clinton and Edwards, however, Fox and the CBC institute would be missing three of the marquee contenders for the Democratic presidential nomination. (more…)
Actually you can say “Mister and Ms. Softee”
What I find so funny about this anti-Fox news crap that has been going on for some time now is that it is only fueled by a few. Fox News has been beating CNN and MSNBC COMBINED in viewership for quite sometime now. Love ‘em or hate ‘em folks all across this country do prefer Fox News over the other cable news outlets. Of course their numbers also includes their worst critics who will tell you not to look at Fox News but will turn back around and blog about something they saw on FN the other day. If it’s so biased and “right wing” then…..?
I like how this one commenter put it: “If Fox News is Right wing, that makes CNN and MSNBC….”
The recent moves by Obama and Clinton have proven to me one thing: They are punks who do not deserve to be President. I say that because if you cannot handle criticism from the media, how are you going to handle it when you have to face the likes of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who have made it clear that he hates the West? Send him some sympathy cards?
I’m not a big fan of cable news period simply because I get more information from the web in a much shorter time. But when I do watch the news, it is usually Fox (Shepard Smith, Bill O’Reilly, Cavuto, and Wallace). This past Sunday, Chris Wallace had Newt Gingrich sweating a little when he asked him about his trips overseas against the wishes of then President Bill Clinton (Republicans have been hammering Pelosi for her recent trip to the middle east–video clip of this interview here). Great interview IMO! Now I am not going to say that FN is straight down the middle when they report the news, but show me what news organization is. The real truth is you will not find it. Conservatives (or those who respect the viewpoint) love FN because it reflects how they process current events based on their ideology. Liberals (or those who respect the viewpoint) love MSNBC and CNN for the same exact reasons–they just are not willing to admit it. This is why I prefer getting my news online because you get to piece together your own coverage. Even with that personal preference or leanings still come in play.
Hillary Clinton also needs to come correct because while she is bouncing all across America with her “I am Woman, hear me roar” rhetoric, that is not going to work if she becomes the next Commander in Chief. Bill doesn’t have a skirt for her to hid behind once the real criticism comes to her door.
With all of this being said, I am especially interested on hearing what my fellow Black bloggers and the rest of the ‘hood has to say on this latest move by Obama. Will we extend his weekend pass because of his color or will this cause us to use the same measuring stick we used when Bush avoided meeting with the NAACP?
