Makgotho Mandela and his sister, Makaziwe, were the only surviving children of Nelson Mandela’s first marriage, to Evelyn Mase, who died last May at 82. After word that Makgatho Mandela was ill became public in December, his sister issued an appeal for privacy, stating that the family would talk to the press at an appropriate time.
Makgotha Mandela worked as an insurance underwriter before earning a law degree in 1997 and being admitted to the South African bar in 2000 and becoming counsel to a major bank. He also was an executive of a South African health-care company and had only recently resigned as corporate secretary of the South African operations of Diner’s Club.

I give my condolences to the Mandela family.
The one thing that puzzles me is that I have been unable to find HOW he contracted this dreaded disease.
Mr. Mandela challenged that practice on a number of fronts, suggesting that openness is actually the way to greater dignity…
Openness also gives way to prevention.
