Donna Brazile is uneasy. She has noticed something highly threatening to her party, and she’s sounding the alarm. In a column for Roll Call newspaper, Brazile, Al Gore’s campaign manager, warns her fellow Democrats that Republicans are seeking to make inroads into the African-American vote. “Once they (black voters) start listening to Republicans, some may even like what they hear.” (more…)
What really concerns me about Ms. Brazile in her above statement is that she is exhibiting a real fear that black folk are beginning to consider the other options that are out there for them politically. Like many of those like her, it appears that she truly believes that the Democratic party is synonymous with blackness.
I guess in her “perfect world” for blacks, there would be only one choice for blacks on politics (hmmmm. Sounds a lot like Communism).
One of the goals of this site is to encourage my fellow black Americans to become more savvy with our vote. This is why I have been highlighting various political parties these past few weeks. The Democratic party is a dying dinosaur and the Republican party is not that far behind them.
Brazile should be celebrating the fact that blacks are becoming more savvy with our vote. Instead, as I said before, she is choosing to put the goals of her political party before black America.
