The other night we watched Russ Parr’s dating show on TVOne and immediately engaged in our all-time favorite pastime of giving advice to the contestants by yelling at the television (as if they could hear us). With my laptop nearby, I decided to do a quick google search on the dating scene out there.
The following is from a brotha who is responding to the age-old complaint that there is not enough good Black men out there. Here is what he had to say. The woman he is responding to is considering moving to San Diego, but has heard that Black men in that town tend to date White women:

“Let me give you a prespective from a Blackmans point of view and I am giving you the honest run down on San Diego as far as the dating scene is concerned.
First let me tell you a little about me so that you have an idea of who you are getting this information from. I am a single parent who has always held down a job have a car, my own place and have already raised 2 daughters who are now working on their masters and one is in her second yr. undergrad school, and I still have a 15 yr old daughter with me, and I did it without the help of a blackwoman. Not bad by todays standards of judging Blackmen. Not to make anything of myself , I felt I needed to make these points clear about myself so that you can feel the impact of what I’m about to tell you.
I read the reply by the poster that answered your post, I want to add something to that in defense of some blackmen out here in San Diego. The Blackwomen here say they want a good man (whatever that means by bw standards) but their statements don’t support their actions.
I have seen on many occassions sincere looking and acting Blackmen appoaching bw here and the response the bw gives to these brothers is cold and they sometimes even ignore an advance by a brother I have seen this. They have no problem giving a thug or the criminal element the benefit of the doubt. But a responsible man that’s about something that’s trying to do something possitive for himself , can get no action.
YOu see if you don’t come with a thug image they play you like you’re weak or they give you no play at all. They even prefer the company of whitemen over a blackman like I have just discribed. I see it all the time. I have even been told by some blackwomen out here that they don’t date no sorry assed blackman. I myself have been discouraged from even speaking to them unless they speak to me first.
So you see there are some blackmen out here that will and want to be with blackwomen but they prefer the thug element so many good brothers are left out in the cold. ANd I might also add the bw out here is very materialistic they will pass up a good man because he may not have a car some little trivial aspect. Throwing the baby out with the bath water. I have seen this on many occassion.
I can agree with the poster that replyed to you that it is a beautiful place I come from the East Coast too so I can appreciate the beauty here. But that’s as far as it goes. So if you want to come here you could have some trouble in the man dept because like the poster said alot of brothers date whitewomen out here because while the bw was busy chasing thugs, the whitewoman was scooping up their dating pool, now they say they’re no good bm out here.
