Once again, I find myself at a loss on current events in the black community. The following is just a sample of the most recent national headlines regarding blacks:
=======================
New Report Details Inequality for Black Americans
… Witnesses describe the shooter as an African-American male in his 20s who left the scene in the back of a black, four-door vehicle that another man was driving … (more…)
Report finds wealth gap due to race
We’ve got game, but we don’t have grads
NC study: Payday lenders target black neighborhoods
Gene may connect race to a cancer
===================
And the list goes on and on needless to say.
After reading just the headlines regarding blacks, sometimes I just want to find me a good river, an old rocking chair, a bag of chewing tobacco, and just sit there while singing some old slave songs.
Sometimes I just wonder if perpetual news coverage that focuses on what we ain’t doing, or what we ain’t got is intentional. Most news agencies will go all out their way to cover the story that features an escaped zoo animal, but will barely focus on the good that takes place in our communities everyday. They much rather focus on the black serial rapist.
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out why blacks tend to to have a more pessimistic outlook on life than whites. Politicians know this and use it to their advantage every election period. How else could a rich, white congressman from Massa-chusetts score so high among blacks? By playing the race and grievance card.
We have been so inoculated with negative press–that is why in many cases we shun those who are successful among us.
Yeah, I think perpetual negative press is intentional.
