A tribute.

blkparade spectators ...God shed His grace on WE

Thank God for my people–black people–American people.

I thank God for every toilet my grandparents had to clean, every tobacco leaf and cotton plant that was picked with their hands, turning the other cheek when called demeaning names, serving in wars when their own freedom was not guaranteed, showing us how to raise beautiful and intelligent children with very little, and most importantly, showing me how to never quit!

When you look at a completed house, it is the top half that is the most visible. It was through all these things our grandparents, and their parents before them were able to lay a foundation that I now stand on this day. I thank God for every soldier that took my place on the battlefield to defend something that so many people throughout the world do not have–opportunity.

God bless America!!
