For the past few days my wife and I have been furniture shopping. For starters, there is no way in the world that all of these stores are having a “close-out” sale all at the same time. (LOL)

After being on a steady diet of HGTV for the past few years or so while renting, this particular chore is something that we have been looking forward to for a very long time.

While some of the pieces stuck out to me, there was nothing really special about the pieces that made me ready to whip out my credit card–until we came to one particular store.

This particular store sold nothing but furniture that they made themselves out of REAL 100% wood. As you could imagine, all the pieces were very heavy and all of them had that smell that only real wood can give. Now don’t tell anybody, but one of my secret desires is to one day have a place in my garage to build my own furniture. So you can only imagine the feeling I had as the store employee pointed out all the fine details of her work.

In our household, we have always had two types of furniture: ol’ skool furniture we inherited from my wife’s parents and the other that usually gets thrown out after a few years (with the exception of an armoire we purchased some years ago–that joint is H-E-A-V-Y). To this very day, ol’ skool furniture is still standing strong.

While I may not be rollin’ like that (YET) to furnish our entire house with all wood, we will be going in this direction one piece at a time.

What a gift to pass on to your children!
