Duane,

We need to know what particular black people they are talking about. We are not a homogenous group. But on a more basic level, I'm totally with you on this.

Duane,

I understand where coming from on this but I don't see it this way. We know that black people are underrepresented in clinical studies of medications. Given this it is reasonable to assume that there are medications are have different effectiveness and safety among blacks than was observed in trials. Given that I can see that there might be medications that are more effect on black people than anyone else.

Also from what I have heard on the subject it is not that makers of this drug was looking for a drug to market to blacks it just turned out that when they ran the numbers black people where had more positive results than whites. My understanding is that they where gonna scrap the drug because the over all the results are not that promising.

All that being said, I can here Tuskegee in my ear too. And with the pharma industry doing so well and with the number of over priced suspect drugs on the market I am not wiling to give them a complete pass.
