It never fails. Any accomplishment has to seen as coonery (if that is even a word). No one called Jerry Lee Lewis jumping up and down and falling all over the place buffoonery. Or Johnny Cash’s tirades on stage in appropriate. It amazes that what you don’t see in 3 six mafia winning is that the door to Hollywood is opening. 20 years ago rap was not even considered a true art form and now it is being represented at the Oscars. Not a fan of the group nor was I a fan of the song but glad to see the music lives on.

I did see the movie Crashed. It was a pretty good movie. It didn’t just show you racism it showed how it evolves in a persons lives. I think that of all the movies out this year it was defiantly the best.

Brokeback was the only one of the nominated movies I saw, mainly because getting a babysitter in order to have a night out takes a bit of planning.

Having seen it, I can honestly say that it’s a good movie because it does what any good movie does: it tells a compelling story, and tells it very well. In this case, the movie got a lot of attention because it told a story at at least some people would rather not see told.

It also put the emphasis on the love between the two characters and the damage that having do deny it did to their lives. That in itself is a compelling story, made moreso by the fact that a major Hollywood movie has never tackled a story like that head -on.

As a black gay man, it’s a reality I’ve seen and know all to well. From what I’ve heard, Brokeback’s story was well told enough to get other people thinking and talking about that reality as well. If it contributes to making that reality and the damage it causes in so many lives less common, I think that’s better than an Oscar win any day.

I was very, very to see 3 six Mafia win the award. I had never heard them befor and will not buy any of their music( no parental guidance-type music around my childern), but it is great to see people comming up from the streets all the way to the Oscars.

I will never see Brokeback Mountain. My wife can barely get me to sit through her romantic comedies, There is no chance of me sitting through a romance about two guys. In fact Brokeback manages to combine many thing that I avoid in one movie; cowboys/country-western culture, romantic movies, and homosexuality.
