Update 1: I just found this site that grades members of congress on their stances on better immigration. Here is Maxine Waters’ grade.
Update 2: I was able to find the following regarding her postion on the Mexican mafia (a gang made up of many illegals who has influence in the Los Angeles area):
Now, at the recent Judiciary meeting, which focused on the impact of foreign gangs in the U.S., she let loose with angry denunciations of the immigrant gangs that are becoming an epidemic in some parts of the country. Referring to the “Mexican mafia,” and insisting that she was unconcerned about the race of these “criminals,” she declared, “I want you out, if you’re committing crimes.” According to a report by the Manhattan Institute’s Heather MacDonald on The Immigration Blog, Waters fumed that “there is no excuse” for the lack of control over U.S. borders. Furthermore, she exclaimed, “I’m a liberal with a capital L, but I’m sick of it.” Could her sudden illness stem from a growing awareness of the discontent now being expressed by growing numbers of Americans? (more…)
What she says and what she does on this issue are very different if you look at her voting history on the issue (see update 1).
=== Main post starts here!
Yesterday, a local radio station reported that the office of Maxine Waters was the scene of a protest where numbers of her black constituents who claimed that she was selling them out by her silence on the immigration issue. This morning I scanned all the major news wires and could not find any mention of this event. Normally, the LA Times or Daily News would have covered such an event.
There are MANY black folks and LEGAL Mexicans out here in SoCal who are livid about all the recent protests that have been going on out here. Unfortunately, if you live in another part of the country you would not know it if you watch the news.
As I get more information on similiar events, I will post them here.
