Conspiracy or not, blacks still have responsibility (Commentary)
on October 10th, 2004 at 9:10 amYet another ray of hope that more African-Americans are not only heeding the words of Cosby, but dogonit, our ancestors (who would be rolling in their graves now to see how easily we avoid personal responsibility)!

How much longer are we going to dismiss tragedies in our community as the result of some outside conspiracy? In a discussion with a couple of friends (I won’t name names) over the recent shooting death of my nephew, I was surprised how easily we still shift blame.
“The problem is a lack of opportunity to do good but a whole lot of opportunity to do bad. For instance, we don’t own planes to fly drugs into this country (my nephew by the way was not involved with drugs) and we don’t make Glocks and Uzis. But they send them to the black community so we can kill each other.â€Â
…Unfortunately, these comments weren’t simply the reflections of a couple of misinformed youngsters trying to grapple with urban violence. I’ve heard well-educated professionals make he same kind of arguments. (full article)
If I had a penny for every conversation which I was part of that this conspiracy theroy came up… Dear Jesus!
