We don’t need their help, we need each other, but we ain’t got each other. It’s every man for himself. A black man gets a business established, he’ll follow the strategy of any capitalist, find the cheapest labor. Hell yeah they’ll go to Taiwan and pay them wooden nickels before they have to deal with us. Their cost of living is lower in these countries, they don’t ask for much. We live in America, our rent goes up every few months and there’s nothing you can do about it. The more money we make, the higher prices go. So no, we’re not satified with our wages, how can we be. There’s nothing poor people can do in a capitolist economy, it’s a check mate, the game’s over for you. It’s time for a new game, but when black people get power, they play the same game

It isn’t white people I don’t trust so much as it is white power. I don’t believe in them whatsoever, they don’t care about us foreal. You look after people you love, and they don’t love us, it’s evident. And that’s not a black or white thing really, it’s a rich or poor thing. They only love what benefits them. The white PEOPLE suffer discrimination and cruelty from us because of our hate of white POWER. A black man doing the same business practices is using white power. I hate to call this white power like that, but we didn’t make it up. No child should go hungry in the world’s richest nation, that’s not love. If we were one nation, a true nation, this would not happen. A nation should be a family, no matter if you don’t get along all the time, that is your brother, and you have to look out for one another. You don’t help them for what they can do for you. I love white people, I have no reason not to trust them, but white power, capitalist power, gets no love from me.

1/ You start running too.

2/ You look over your shoulder to see who’s chasing you.

3/ If the person is white, you stop running.

I saw this first hand as a naive 19 year old going to college on the south side of Chicago, around 35th & State. I was late for class and running down 33rd st. Later a street wise upperclassman explained it to me.

This was an era (1962) when the calls for affermative action first came out.

How come it took 40 years for Jesse to talk about the run-look-stop running reflex?

After reading that, I don’t trust myself anymore!

I agree with you on the affirmative action issue (the fact that I happen to be white may taint my agreement in some persons minds I suppose).

I think of affirmative action much the same way I do labor unions, it was once needed, I don’t believe either are now needed.

I do think (and perhaps my head is in a utopian cloud) that America has come to the point where yes racism does continue to exist but it will not be put up with in mass.

Every last person in America, some where in their fat heads knows without a doubt that all person truley are created equal.

Some persons will continue to discriminate and hold racist views no matter what. But I do believe for everyone of them there are another ten who don’t practice discrimination or hold to racist beliefs.

If I am right, the the racists are out numbered and their effect on society can be greatly limited.

While I have no issues with persons holding on to their race or ethnic heritage, our society needs to learn how to exist as our all being Americans first and a hyphenated this or a hyphenated that as a secondary.

By not first seeking to all be Americans we further seperate ourselves one from the other. To that end it becomes a replay of high school, everyone has their own little cliques and only interact with other cliques when they absoultley have to.

That works in high school to some extent, but in real life it is destructive to individuals and to our society.

No good ever has come or will come from such seperation.
