It looks like our Brit cousins also deal with the “not black enough” syndrome:
Before the staging of this year MOBO’s, different Black celebrities here in the UK were asked who they would like to host and present the event. Most interviewed surprisingly, at least to me, selected Blu Cantrell and Lil’ Kim, who hosted last year’s show. Some argued that they didn’t like the idea of these two ladies hosting the event as they “weren’t Black enough” or even “British enough” to be the face of this prestigious event. (full article)
