While mainstream media and many Republican politicians are responding to this issue regarding an Afghan man who is facing the death penalty for converting from Islam to Christianity, the long trend of Islamic persecution towards Christians is something that has been going on for a long time. Bring this fact up to some people and they will quickly remind you of the Crusades (a war between the Catholic church and Islam–big difference). Bring this issue up to black Muslims here in the states and you are almost sure to see a shift of topic in the conversation within the next breath.

Persecution of anybody regardless of race, religion, class or sexual preference is wrong PERIOD. While much of the mainstream media, critics and many activist groups are quick to point out any missteps within Christendom, they will almost always grant a free pass to other religions who are guilty of the very crime they accuse Christians of committing worldwide.

In the past, I have highlighted websites that keep track of such crimes committed against Christians worldwide (I will provide you with those links at the end of this post).

Last thing–While folks of different religions can respect one another and even enjoy friendship, the pipe dream of religious unification on ANY LEVEL is just that–a pipe dream. The fundamental differences between major religions out there are just too different to even think about any type of LASTING relationship. Over the years I have seen such groups formulate only to dismantle within a short amount of time. Christians will always be judged by the Crusades, Muslims will always been seen as the religion whose goal is to convert everyone… or else, Jews will always be viewed as rich bloodsuckers that prey on the poor—so forth and so on. So why continue to kid ourselves with the phony religious coalitions and initiatives?
