With Las Vegas being about a 3 hour road trip for me, the thought of driving to this year’s CES (Consumer Electronics Show) came across my mind more than once. But as it always does, life gave me a swift kick of reality and once again I find myself regulated to reading press releases and watching online video of this once a year event.
While I am a Mac user (MacBook Pro), I would not consider myself your typical “Mac” guy. For example, I strongly dislike the iPod and my home network is PC-based. Despite those points, I prefer working with the Mac these days because of its ease of use and reliability when working with audio and video.  Moving on…
This year’s “Belle of the ball” at CES is the long-awaited iPhone by Apple. If you want all the details, click here. In the meantime, I can tell you that this is a next generation iPod with phone, WiFi, Bluetooth, camera capabilities. The two features that absolutely wowed the crowd (and me while I was watching Steve Job’s presentation via the Apple website) was the overall scrolling feature and the neat way you can edit pictures. Bottom line, you have to see it to appreciate what I am saying here.
Will I buy one? For a price that is going to be somewhere in the neighborhood between $499-600, you must be crazy! For now, I’ll just continue to stick with my already paid for, RAZR phone.
There are some other items that stuck out to me from all the reviews so far. When you get a chance, please visit CNET.com’s page “Best of CES awards“.
(Does anybody out there have Microsoft’s Zune player? While I am not quite ready to buy another MP3 player [ Creative Labs Zen xtra - 30g - it has been good to me for almost 3 years], this looks like the player that will be on the top of my list in the future.)
