Handing out over 19 billion dollars (I’m adding “over” because government will always under-estimate when it screws up) by mistake is not an error by no stretch of the imagination.

Collin Powell takes a swipe at President Obama for not doing enough to fix employment.
“Powell said the president needed to focus ‘like a razor blade’ on employment, giving the same level of attention to jobs as he did to passing bills overhauling health care and education.
‘I understand the importance of all of that,’ Powell said. [...]
This writer believes that the “…persistently high unemployment rate among African-Americans is a violation of human rights” and that the UN should investigate.” I’ve addressed this issue already, so I will cut to the chase here.

“Are these guys crazy? They accuse Obama of not doing enough about Black unemployment, but yet they want to increase the number of people competing for a finite number of low skilled jobs? In the immortal words of George W. Bush, ‘this is fuzzy math.’” (Quote from Raynard Jackson. President and CEO of Raynard [...]
And if health care is extended to them, how can we honest say that something “FREE” from the government is going be on par with something that is not free in the marketplace? This is a very simple question and is one I would have expected to be asked from many of the same people [...]
Money does not create meaningful jobs, demand does. Yet to the CBC, $600 mil for summer jobs is Black gold.
“As any bookerista knows, this is merely money confiscated from taxpayers (not to mention that the gigs are just a couple of months). The government isn’t expanding the job growth pie, but merely taking peoples’ pie [...]

Rising unemployment, poverty, home loss due to foreclosure, etc. all have been hot topics amongst many Black commentators and politicians. With the exception of the Congressional Black Caucus recently calling out Obama on some of these issues, most of these talking heads are careful to blame “the government”, not Obama. Under Bush of course, Bush [...]

“This is good news, just in time for the season of hope,” Mr. Obama said in a speech at Lehigh Carbon Community College in suburban Allentown. “I’ve got to admit, my chief economist, Christy Romer, she got about four hugs when she handed us the report. But I do want to keep this [...]
(nytimes.com) With unemployment among blacks at more than 15 percent, the N.A.A.C.P. will join several other groups on Tuesday to call on President Obama to do more to create jobs.
The organizations — including the A.F.L.-C.I.O. and the National Council of La Raza, a Hispanic advocacy group— will make clear that they believe the president’s $787 [...]
I knew it would not take long for folks to rush to the role of school marm and tell fellow Americans to “shush” any and all criticism about Muslims for the terrible shooting that took place at Ft. Hood. That alone is sickening to me.
The AP beats the drum.

ESSENCE.COM: In your opinion as an economist, how has President Obama handled the economy?
MALVEAUX: If I look at the economy overall, I would give President Obama an incomplete. He inherited a situation, and it’s been very difficult for him to get his hands around any number of things. But in terms of job creation, I [...]
