Besides a Warm Blanket, Food and a Good Speech, What is the Church Offering to the World?

“Wanna Save Gas? Check Out Our Church”
That was a sign placed in front of a nearby church when gas prices were high last year. Speaking of similar gimmicks:
From Sunday morning through Wednesday night, each time regulars or religious freshman stroll through the doors to attend a revival, they’ll get another chance to win one of two $500 gas cards.
Teenagers will qualify for a drawing Tuesday night for one of 10 car keys. Then, one-by-one those fortunate few will take turns starting the SUV’s engine to learn who gets to keep it. (source)
Or how about the growing trend of churches who are either canceling service due to the Super Bowl?
There is also a growing trend amongst churches that has many of them using sex as a way to draw folks. Below is a billboard used by one church.

2 Corinthians 6 makes it pretty clear that as Christians, there is to be a distinct difference between our lives and the lives of those who do not follow Christ. Verse 17 gets right to the point:
“Wherefore Come ye out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord…”
*Churches give food to the poor. So do secular non-profits
*Churches offer childcare. So do secular non-profits
*Churches give a message of hope and provide direction for life. So do secular non-profits.
If you are a Christian, what makes you different from anybody else?
Why would someone who is not a Christian settle for a watered down version of what they can already get in the world?
Is gospel music (a genre the regularly samples secular music) really saving anybody or is it just a desperate attempt to convince the world that we are just like them?
These are just some random thoughts of mine as I prepare to go to church this morning.
