I can’t believe this slipped right by me last week.
Where was I when Mandela was released? I believe I was preparing for finials, so I had very little chance to absorb the moment. But what I do remember was South Africa’s first democratic elections which took place about 4 years later. Man, who could forget those long lines?
I also remember the defiant P.W. Botha.
