The Harlem Globetrotters are truly an American institution all to themselves. What people like commentator/comedians Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are to politics today, the Globtrotters were able to take a forum not known for comedy and force people to laugh at it.

I actually saw them once play in Philly many years ago at the Spectrum. Who remembers “Harlem Globetrotters Popcorn Machine”?

But as a child growing up in the seventies, they oftentimes made other appearances on television that honestly left me scratching my head. Here are just a few clips.
