Why the Obama bus tour ain’t coming to the hood (Pt. 3)
on August 19th, 2011 at 8:20 amDespite rumblings, black leaders say they’re in Obama’s corner
Yes, the title says it all. But allow me to excerpt one quote from the article.
“African-American support for the president and his party remains strong, panelists agreed. Obama is “an icon,” said Jamal Simmons, a principal at the Raben Group. Voting against him would be like “voting against Martin Luther King.”
The Democratic party has the Black vote on lock–always has, always will. So all the noise Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) is making is nothing more than empty political theater. If she and the rest of the CBC really felt as strongly about Black unemployment as they say they do, they would not have needed to ask Black folks for their permission to go after Obama. They certainly did not need permission to go after Bush.
In other news, Rep. Allen West suggests that he is a “modern day Harriet Tubman” leading African-American voters away from the Democratic party’s ‘plantation’”. Allow me to add something else along those lines.
“What is the difference between slaves on plantations and blacks who blindly vote for Democrats?
What does a slave-owner have to provide, free, for his slaves?
1. Free Housing.
2. Free Food.
3. Free Healthcare
4. A menial education sufficient to the task he requires the slave to perform.
What is the one thing a slave owner required of his slaves?
1. Unquestioning Loyalty.
What do the democrats always promise to provide, free, to blacks?
1. Free Housing.
2. Free Food.
3. Free healthcare
4. A free menial education, sufficient to get them to the voting booth.
What is the one thing Democrats require of their constituents?
1. Unquestioning Loyalty.
The only question black democrats have to ask themselves is:
Who’s your master now?”
Just as I believe the Democratic party takes the Black vote for granted and that there is a lot of merit to the above, I also believe the Republican party also takes the Tea party for granted.
Dear Tea Party, You Are Blowing It!
Dear Tea Party, You Are Blowing It! (Case In Point)
Read the post and comments for the last two.
Both parties see special interest groups as nothing more than a means to an end. By nature, politics is self-serving and rotten to it’s very core. This is why I wanna slap somebody every time I hear someone personalizing government (“That’s MY President”). That is the perspective where all my political conversations begin. So while West feels that he is bringing Blacks “off of the plantation”, I’m asking where is this politician who voted for raising the debt limit (against the wishes of his supporters) leading Blacks?
In the meantime, I think that there are more than enough handlers in the Black electorate to take care of those who wish to un-Kuntaize themselves. So there is no need for Obama to roll through the hood.
