I posted this on the Blackinformant.com Facebook page as well.

“If the country and the press had no problem electing Bill Clinton with the trail of women he “touched”, then Herman Cain should be a shoo in. But he’s not. The reason? He (not his color) does not fit the narrative of DC. There is more going on here than a bunch of sexual accusations. Don’t be distracted and measure all of the candidates, their message, and their track records on the issues that really matter.”

I should have also added that there is no such thing as a “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.” Smith and Wesson, yes. But no singular person exists that can bring balance to the mess in DC. Cain positioned himself as a Mr. Smith minus the widespread support Obama enjoyed from the press and the “establishment” within his own party.

I took the very same approach with the Obama birth certificate stuff. It was nothing more than a distraction for the electorate. Both my time and your time is too valuable for me to simply add to the heap of chatter over an issue that will be forgotten in months. Cain has no impact on the unemployment rate, no impact on the condition of our public schools, no impact on the falling literacy rate in this country, no impact on father absenteeism, no impact on teen pregnancy. This is just a distraction. So yes, I am avoiding the whole thing to address things that really matter to me and hopefully to you as well.
