The world is filled with double standards. Don’t make it seem like it is only Black people and Democrats that have them.

Yes TLW, only Black folks and Democrats are hypocrites.

All I am saying is that if you are advocating for the end of hypocracy and double standards especially in the political game you are wasting your time. Not saying it is right or wrong it is just the way it is and always has been.

Although I will say that these clergymen getting all hot under the collar about this is beyond annoying. Don’t they have anything better to do since they live in a city where black teens are being shot up quite often. If they consider themselves some sort of “activists” there’s some work for them.

What I am advocating is the end of double standards on the issue of race. Yes, politics is based on double standards and empty promises as you pointed out. But as Black folk, why do we tolerate the usage of our history (particularly the ugly parts) being freely tossed around by one party while calling it “racism” when it comes from the other? When it comes from Republicans, it is deemed “hurtful”. When it comes from Democrats (as we have seen with Blago/Rush), their play of the race card was seen as some masterful political stroke. If this stuff is wrong, then let it be considered wrong no matter who uses it.

But I’m not holding my breath on that one.

As for the preachers (sigh!), that just makes me tired anytime I think of their role in this and any situation like this.
