I was invited yesterday to attend blogger screening over at the home of Tavis Smiley. What did we screen? His first movie project “Stand“.
I am currently working on my full review that should be posted here on Wednesday. One of his assistants told me that I could get a phone interview with him this week, so stay tuned for that as well.
There were about 20 or so of us in attendance. There was someone from The Detroit News, Yahoo Music, theloop21.com, hiphoprepublican.com, Lee Bailey of EURweb.com and others I did not get a chance to meet.
During the question/answer period, some of those in our group spent a great deal of time peppering him with political questions and questioning him about some of the critical remarks he made about Obama in the past. While it may not showed, I actually became pissed because the whole purpose of the screening was to discuss THE FILM. I know where Tavis is coming from politically, but I put all of that to the side and just focused on the film itself. A little distracting, but he handled it well.
