BET did at one time have a show called “The Best Shorts: A BETJ Showcase” where the short works of independent filmmakers were showcased. I am no longer able to find the link which means the show might have been canceled.

Recently, BET began a new web series called “Buppies“. Here is some info about the show.

This groundbreaking series is the first original webseries to present an all African-American cast, and features accomplished actress Tatyana Ali (”The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” “Young and the Restless”) in the starring role.

The series is created and produced by critically acclaimed filmmakers. Julian Breece’s first film was an official selection of the Sundance film festival this year. He and his producing partner, Aaliyah Williams, were highlighted as one of the top 10 new voices in black Cinema by IndieWire. Their company, Game Theory Films, produced the series along with Tatyana Ali and her sister Anastasia’s company HazraH Entertainment.

In their first joint endeavor, sisters Tatyana Ali and Anastasia Ali of HazraH Entertainment are proud to present BUPPIES. With over 20 years in the entertainment industry both in front of and behind the
camera, the sisters hope to usher in a new chapter in African American storytelling.
