The Black Informant | African American Commentary, News and Community Building

Since December of ’09, I was made the administrator of the African American Photographers Flickr group (only thing is that I just found out that fact recently). This is by far a huge highlight for my week.

I remember joining this group when there was only a couple of us. Since there was really no activity for a while, I just kinda put it in the back of my mind. Now, the group is over 500 strong with close to 6,000 of some of the most inspiring photography of Black folks by Black folks in one place here on the net.

I also see this as a big deal because this is a forum where I can make sure that Black imagery stays positive and inspiring and out of wastelands of embarrassment. Outside of a few shots that were too sexualized (of which I deleted), the vast majority are wonderful clips of how we see the world.
