NBC Cafeteria Celebrates Black History Month With Fried Chicken Special

Celebrating Black History Month with fried chicken and collard greens?

So what? I’ll eat ‘em.

In fact, most Black folks eat soul food.

How is it that all other ethnic foods can be celebrated freely and openly, but the moment someone mentions “fried chicken”, there’s this 4th grade “ooooooooooOOOOO , you’re gonna get it” that hits the room?

Black folks (and Whites) who feed into this ridiculous paranoia do no favors for the Black race. Why? Because it perpetuates this notion that we are one collective bundle of nerves that need constant tender loving care and a social baby blanket by our side. To have reached the level where it has become taboo to mention and celebrate the foods we eat is just sad and sickening. Political correctness does us no favors here. It just leaves a lot of people hungry for the foods they really want.
