Apparently T.D. Jakes has bought into at least some of the “green” hype.

Steve Houser, Committee Chair for the Dallas Urban Forest Advisory states, “The Potter’s House planting project is an exemplary effort and a shining example of leadership in being a good stewardship of our environment and our urban forest. When individuals and groups take ownership in our community assets…positive changes occur that can transform an entire neighborhood. Clearly, The Potter’s House officials understand that trees reduce crime and the level of aggression in a community. Trees provide a better quality of life because they are the very foundation of our urban infrastructure.” (more…)

So there is a correlation between trees and crime? I live in West, which means trees (when compared to the East coast) are very sparse. There are many, MANY communities out here where the tree population is down and crime is down. On the other hand, cities like Pasadena (Altadena) have a lot of trees (for the West) and they just had 3 shootings in one night-within one square mile.

Perhaps they planted the wrong kind of trees?

 Trees reduce crime?
