“Black Embarrassment Television” (Twitted to death…by Black folks)
on June 27th, 2011 at 6:35 amWhile doing some social media work for a client last night, I could not help but notices that the BET Awards was trending near the top worldwide at one point. While much of the world had moved on after the awards show, HotLanta was still talking about it well after midnight.
Some of the same “high brow” folks on Facebook who I know have accused BET of single handedly wrecking the entire Black race were right up there last night posting comments every 5 minutes about the show.
A few years ago when BET decided to turn Jam Donaldson’s idea (HotGhettoMess.com) into a show, folks all across the Internet slammed both her and BET for continuing their sad legacy of “embarrassing” Black folks. Today, many of those same folks continue to promote what was once called an “embarrassment” for free.
I don’t get it and probably never will get it.
