Here is a great post I found over at blackweb20.com regarding the useless “Arrington is evil” Twitter campaign (Michael Arrington is the founder of Techcrunch. He was recently quoted as saying that he “Didn’t know any black entrepreneurs”). This quote was a dang SNIPET of an entire show. But of course it does not take much for some people.

FOR YEARS on this blog I have been promoting small business owners, independent artists, filmmakers, and startups that are widely unknown to most of the Black population. The reason why is because many of them either do not have the money to advertise, don’t know how to use social media, or their target demographic (Black folks) do not help them to get the word out.

There is no money in looking for racism under every bush or rock (unless you are Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton). Instead, how about for once stop talking excessively about barriers and come up with new ways around them.

Tiffani Bell of Blackweb20.com provides a listing of Black start up companies that you can support. As I have said many times, support DOES NOT mean that you automatically promote their products. Instead, check them out and give them feedback–both positive and constructive criticism. Lastly, slap the person who suggests that constructive criticism equals a tearing down of the Black man. Please! Can we move on from that? We can cuss out our favorite NFL teams all day, but the moment we provide some constructive criticism, suddenly we are breaking the Black rank.

By providing feedback, you are helping them to make their products better. Check them out.
