I just finished fighting a cold this week when all of a sudden here comes Mister Allergy Season. On top of that, my work schedule has changed twice in the last couple of weeks. Good stuff, but my body is feeling it.
Despite all of that, there were some things that went down this week that we simply cannot just gloss over and ignore.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi~
“(CNN) – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi Wednesday strongly defended her party’s support of the federal food stamp program – a day after former Republican Speaker Newt Gingrich argued that GOP candidates should use the growing number of people on food stamps against Democrats on the campaign trail.
At a press conference in her home town of San Francisco, Pelosi explained that the program’s multiplier effect –the amount of money generated in the local economy as the result of the subsidy– far exceeds the nearly $60 billion spent this year by the federal government and is a sure-fire way to stimulate the economy. For every dollar a person receives in food stamps, Pelosi said that $1.79 is put back into the economy. The U.S. Department of Agriculture cites an even higher figure of $1.84.“It is the biggest bang for the buck when you do food stamps and unemployment insurance. The biggest bang for the buck,” she said.”
If you needed further proof that politicians have hard wired the system to keep a permanent underclass, then you are in complete denial. I’m just glad that Pelosi was old and bold enough to admit it.
Please note: Nobody is twisting his arm.
Obama has spent a considerable amount of time putting banks on blast for their role in the housing crisis and the fact that they are improperly spending government money (raises, etc.). According to this cat, Obama is very close to signing a bill that will make these banks immune from any liability “…for false or improperly prepared documents” for home mortgages. The fact that this bill made it to his desk is troubling. The bill was sponsored by Republican Rep. Robert Aderholt and was passed by both majority-Democrat controlled House and Senate.
The Obama fan base repeated the White House talking points over and over again online about how Obamacare was going to do wonders for the poor. But just this week you have Obama himself issuing out at least (because government never gives you the real number) 30 waivers to companies/organizations. In other words, they don’t have to enroll in his brand of health care for a year. Companies like McDonalds, Jack in the Box, CIGNA and others (full list here). I thought we were told that people who enrolled in Obamacare would not fear losing their existing coverage. If this is the case, why did he issue out these exemptions?
