In a recent commentary, commentator Rob Redding laid the blame at the feet of two people he felt could have stopped the execution of Troy Davis: President Obama and Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.

“In a direct contradiction, the Obama administration asked for a stay of execution for an illegal immigrant, Humberto Leal Garcia Jr., by the state of Texas to no avail back in July, but said nothing about Davis.”

Obama has even made the case that stopping state atrocities across the globe in Libya is paramount, but now says dealing with Davis’ execution is off the table? Not even Kool-Aid drinking Democrats could be that gullible.”

Now he has a point about the administration requesting a stay of execution for an illegal immigrant, but not for an American citizen. That is something right there. But Obama would not have been able to stop the execution.

Redding continues~

“What is even worse, you have Clarence Thomas, the only black man on the Supreme Court, who clears the way for a lynching. ‘The application for stay of execution of sentence of death presented to Justice (Clarence) Thomas and by him referred to the Court is denied,’ the order reads.”

Thomas AND THE OTHER 8 Justices (both politically Left and Right) all agreed that the execution should continue after looking at all of the evidence. Secondly, Redding makes no mention of the fact that mostly the jury and witnesses were Black. Redding, like most people WILLINGLY leave out the former DA’s account on the case (Spencer Lawton). He has been silent on this case for the 20+ while this case was being tried and analyzed.

For the one-tracked minds in the audience, no I am not saying Davis was innocent or guilty. So please don’t go there. What I am saying is that there are other accounts to consider. I can see if someone has an issue with the death penalty as a whole. But when you willingly avoid other facts, you don’t want to know the truth.

This had nothing to do with racism. The process may have been very sloppy, but this was not a “lynching”. Redding didn’t mention the unanimous Supreme Court decision, the fact that most of the jury and witnesses were Black. He didn’t even care to mention Lawton’s account regarding this case. In other words, he has a narrative and is going to stick to it.
