Another “‘bad’ treatment of animals is equal to slavery/holocaust” comparison. Courtesy of Nia Long. “When I became a mother, I started to really understand the importance of all living creatures in a way that I didn’t ever think about before. And I’ve realized how important it is that we really take responsibility for … treating animals with love and care just like we would any human being. There’s no difference, in my opinion, [between fur and] slavery or the Holocaust. It’s just that we’re not dealing with human beings, we’re dealing with animals, but it’s still a living thing.”

I have been following this sick comparison since 2005. What makes it saddening is the fact that Black folks are helping PETA push this message.

Warren Ballentine proposes a “Mortgage Holiday”.

Here is how it would work:

1. It would be optional. You only do it if you choose to.
2. You cannot be more than three months behind on your mortgage.
3. The interest on your loan will continue to accrue during the “holiday” year.

This is a DUMB idea. In fact, the government has been doing the same thing for months: DELAYING THE INEVITABLE.

Second, the market will never fully recover until government backs out and allow the natural foreclosure process to clear out the massive inventory. All of these loan modifications and temporary foreclosure suspensions are just dragging out the process longer than what it has to be.

Third, Ballentine is assuming that at the end of 1 year that participants are going to be nice little responsible boys and girls and not touch all of that savings until the end of the year. Dude, if many of these people were too irresponsible to not even read their loan paperwork, buy a home they knew they could not afford, what makes you think that people are suddenly going to feel the need to be good stewards?

Lastly, home ownership is not a right.
