Before commenting on how President Obama has become the first Black president of GM, I decided to take some time to scan some of the biggest critics of the Bush administration and how billions of dollars were wasted under him. Since fiscal responsibility was something that was important to them under Bush, I figured that they would have some major pearls of wisdom to dispense regarding our collective purchase of GM.

In the meantime, check out this following Google search results.

Bush, wasted billions

Now let’s take a stroll over to BlackTalk (that’s the search engine I put together that allows you to search the contents of 100 Black websites and blogs.

iraq, wasted billions

There were no shortage of words on that issue.

Now if the thought of wasting “billions of dollars” was something that was just too much to handle for staunch critics of the Bush administration, why the apparent silence when Obama commits over $85 billion of our tax dollars to a failed business that has just declared bankruptcy today? Where are all the examples of how po’ Black children are stuck with outdated school books while Obama gives away billions to failing businesses?

What was referred to as “waste” under Bush is now being defined as “shared sacrifice” under Obama.

From ABC news~

“Speaking directly to GM workers, he stated, “I know you’ve already seen more than your fair share of hard times. We saw 400,000 jobs lost in the auto industry in the year before this restructuring even began. I will not pretend the hard times are over. Difficult days lie ahead. More jobs will be lost. More plants will close. More dealerships will shut their doors and so will many parts suppliers. But I want you to know that what you’re doing is making a sacrifice for the next generation…’”

So this is a rip off sacrifice where our generation will never see the fruits of our labor, according to Obama. And based on the reactions of fair weather economic critics out there, this is perfectly fine.
