Handing out over 19 billion dollars (I’m adding “over” because government will always under-estimate when it screws up) by mistake is not an error by no stretch of the imagination.
“Nearly $19 billion in state unemployment benefits were paid in error during the three years that ended in June, new Labor Department data show.”
Losing my wallet is a error. Systematically handing out billions of dollars is straight up intentional. Those in charge simply chose to look the other way.
The truth behind all of this is that the government is trying to do all it can to stop the inevitable. Our economy is in a recession and sinking deeper towards depression status. This was like giving someone in hell ice water. It releves them for about a second, but they are still in hell.
Just face the facts and brace yourselves.
