A Piece Of The Action II Starring The Black Chamber

The other day, I challenged this whole notion pushed by some that beer and alcohol ads that target the Black community are not just bad, but they contribute to alcoholism in our community. Apparently, The National Black Chamber of Commerce does not see it that way.
“The National Black Chamber of Commerce is urging Congress not to interfere with a battle over a Caribbean rum distillery.
In a Feb. 16 letter sent to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), the Black Chamber — along with the Florida Black Chamber of Commerce — said the partnerships formed between brand-name liquor companies and the U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI) would greatly benefit many black residents.” (more…)
So again how can critics demonize the beer and alcohol industry over how they advertise in the Black community when the same community clearly benefits from the same industry?
What we should be looking at is how the hip hop community has advertised many alcohol products FOR FREE for years.
