I remember during the 2008 election season if you were to suggest that the main reason why most Blacks supported Obama was because of his color and not the issues, you would have been verbally shellacked. Now of course this was a historical moment in our history and many people (as they should) were ecstatic about the fact that as a nation were were about to rip a hole in another historical barrier. To me and other like me, that was not the issue. The real issue was that it seemed that nobody even cared to look at this man’s record or ask him the same hard questions that have been asked of all other presidents since the birth of this nation.
In a recent interview, commentator Tavis Smiley asked Dr. Ethel Allen Promise Academy Principal Woolworth Davis what were the reasons why our young Black men were not exceeding in school. Look at the whole video.
Among other reasons, Woolworth lays some of the blame on single parents (in most cases, single mothers) who come up with excuse after excuse for their male children who simply refuse to perform at their optimum in school.
There is a correlation here on how the how on a much wider scale the Black community has been grading Obama. I did not need this article to prove the fact that no matter what Obama does, he will ALWAYS have a fan base that will support him to the end. I even wrote about this damaging political view as it relates to Obama in my article “Black America’s Inability To Treat Obama Like A Man”.
While the Obama fan base will always find a way to blame all the bad indicators on Bush (who has been out of office for close to 3 years now), strangely enough the few good indicators are immediately contributed to Obama’s leadership. This is how his fan base attempts to make the illogical, logical. On one hand we have to give Obama more time to correct the mistakes of 8 years of Bush. But any slight dip in unemployment claims are immediately attributed to his genius. So in other words, bad news: Bush, good news: Obama. So easy, even a caveman can understand it.
All over Facebook, the Obama fan base hailed his speech and the promises in it as if it was handed to him by Moses himself. Never mind the fact that this same President just spent over a trillion dollars in his attempt to stimulate job growth of “shovel ready” jobs only to admit later “There is not a such thing as shovel ready projects”. After Obama gave his much anticipated speech on job creation, the following day the market takes a nose dive. While one cannot attribute the whims of the stock market on one speech, the market does take many of its queues from government action (or a lack thereof). But regardless of how the marketplace (not the Tea Party, not the dastardly Republicans) reacted to Obama’s speech, what he had to say was pure gold to his fan base.
There is one diehard Obama supporter who generated some fame for himself for providing his readers with the inside scoop behind the whole Eddie Long saga. He consistently demanded for a full accounting of what really happened and placed his entire congregation on blast for blindly supporting Long. But this same dude will strike down all criticizers of Obama in a hot second. If you even question Obama, he will immediately accuse you of being in lock-step with the Tea Party. So needless to say my attempts to even have a conversation with him without offering up a Psalm to Obama’s goodness to Black folks have left me with a headache. So I just leave him alone altogether.
I leave you with some random comments from around Facebook in support of Obama’s speech.
” In a nutshell, President Obama’s speech is similar to what Jesus said,”Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!”
(Matthew 4:19) and away he went to Eric Cantor’s backyard, next stop Ohio and Kentucky,(Boehner/McConnell territory) knocking down their Ponzi Scheme of dereliction of Government in person.”
“I’m with Cedric this whole plan is genius! I ready to see it play out!”
” It is a brilliant plan to place in front of them ideas they supported in the past and hold the accountable for not supporting them now. He is brilliant!! Make them show the world that they are responsible for not creating jobs not him.”
“Refreshing to see people with real thoughts, and people who are supporting our president.”

Brother Duane:
The Black community will ulimately live and die based on our ability to enforce the integrity of our Black Institutions. The primary element of this is the defense of our “Black Community Development Consciousness Core”. We must have transparent assessment of our progress or retrogression. Progress must trump the methodology (ie: the ideology) that is chosen and the associated vehicle (ie: political party).
Are you really surprised to see that 3 years after the tremendous marketing of Obama and the benefits that the Black community woud amass that you now see the very same people SELLING us on the notiont that Term #2 will be the decisive term that we had been waiting for?
Here is the key. Over the next few weeks we as Black people are going to be compelled to fight for Obama’s jobs bill. Those who oppose this bill oppose “Black EMployment”. This scheme asks us to drop the decades of INVESTMENTS that our people made of our ‘Equal Black Ballots” – with the promises that by electing favorable Democrats our fortunes would be lifted.
What we see here is a LACK OF INTEGRITY in the Black Institutions. Instead of demnading an accounting of our return on investment – it is more popular to note how IF WE DON’T INVEST AGAIN – the Tea Party will slash the Black people once they get into power.
What we have is SHORT TERM and cyclical gains for the ideology and party at the expense of long term, fundamental development of the institutions in our community – that are in firm control by Black progressives but are not seen as our change agent. MORE STRUGGLE is promoted as the change.
I don’t believe that it is STUPIDITY.
The Embedded Confidence Men are fully knowledgable about how placing Blacks on the racial defensive will trigger most to vote in a favorable manner.
Then there is an abundance of HATRED within the rank & file. They merely need an excuse to do as what they wanted to do already.

I have two questions: Without raising any revenue can will all of Obama’s plans see the light of day? Will he have the tresury print more “funny money”, that is practically worthless?
