The video tells the entire story. Here you have a young man who spent a great deal of time preparing for one of the greatest races of his life. Suddenly confronted with injury, he struggles himself to get to the finish line even though he has no chance of winning. Seeing his struggling son, dad comes from out of the stands, takes his son’s arm and places it around his neck to support him. Although the son is in visible pain, he is determined to finish the race. His dad’s support and love gets him to the finish line.
I have seen this video several times, but this last time really moved me to tears. This has to be by far one of the greatest moments in sports history ever.
As these kids grow up, they are going to be exposed to all types of situations that will be very harmful and damaging both to their psyche and emotional development. Without a parent in the stands for these kids, they are being left limping on the track.
What was it that made this video powerful? It wasn’t just the injury as athletes are injured all the time. It was the fact that the father came and assisted his son at one of the most lowest points in his life.
Gentlemen, please be there for your kids. They need you.

According to a report issued by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, there were 408,425 children in our foster care system back in 2010. That means that for one reason or another, mom and dad are out of the picture for these dear kids.
