Just saw most of the Philadelphia Eagles press conference where Michael Vick was formally introduced as a member of that team. I’ll just bullet-point my thoughts:
- I was doing filming my friend’s band when I got the text from another friend, so I couldn’t shout like I wanted to. Yeeeeaaaah boi!!!
- While Vick is saying that McNabb pushed the Eagles to give Vick a chance, I just do not know how long fans are going to patient as Vick sits on the sidelines. One bad game by McNabb and it will be “We want Vick, We want Vick!” I’m trying to believe that this little part has already been thought out.
- Andy Reid’s comment saying that Vick’s success will be measured by not what he does on the field, but what he does in the community – Making him a perpetual show pony for PETA and other animal rights groups WHEN THE MAN JUST DID 18 MONTHS IN PRISON is just over the top. Donte Stallworth gets suspended for the season and 24 days in prison for killing a man while driving under the influence and …whatever!
- The Michael Vick situation should provoke many out there to A. know the law and B. Know the people who advocate certain laws:
PETA and other animal rights groups may be seen as a bunch of “out there” weirdos who treat animals like members of the human race, but they gotz money. Most of all, they know how to use it in the political arena. Everybody else just complain when one of their own interests gets tangled up in these seemingly obscure laws. I have been hippin’ readers to PETA since 2004 on this site. Any organization that compares the plight of chickens to that of African slavery or the holocaust is SICK in my book. So no telling what they have in store for Vick to say in future “community service” appearances. So again, A. know the law and B. Know the people who advocate certain laws. Special interest groups advocate certain laws because those laws support their “special interests”.
